Murphy City Council 2026

KEVIN KELLEY

For City Council

Working together to build a stronger, more vibrant Murphy for all residents.

About Kevin

I am a devoted family man with deep roots in Texas, having proudly called this state home for 39 years and the city of Murphy home for the past 13. I am a graduate of Rockwall High School and earned my degree from the University of Oklahoma.

My wife and I are raising two children who attend Wylie ISD, and like many families in Murphy, we are invested in the quality of our schools, neighborhoods, and community life. Family values aren’t just something I talk about—they guide how I live and lead every day.

I bring 18 years of public service experience in law enforcement, where I worked to protect and serve our community, along with three years of executive leadership in property management. These roles have given me a strong foundation in accountability, fiscal responsibility, and practical problem-solving.

I am running for Place 5 on the Murphy City Council because I want to ensure Murphy remains a safe, thriving place for families to grow and succeed—both today and for generations to come. I am also a firm believer in term limits, as they encourage fresh perspectives, new ideas, and responsive local government.

Murphy is my home, and I am committed to serving it with integrity, experience, and a clear focus on families first.

Community First

Listening to Murphy residents and prioritizing their needs in every decision.

Integrity

Honest, transparent leadership you can trust.

Results

Proven track record of getting things done for our community.

Key Issues

One of the reasons I decided to run for Murphy City Council is my belief that public service should never become a permanent career. I strongly support implementing term limits for city council members because they ensure fresh ideas, new perspectives, and continued accountability to the residents we serve.

When the same individuals hold office for long periods of time, government can become stagnant and disconnected from the evolving needs of the community. Term limits encourage civic participation and allow more residents with different backgrounds, experiences, and ideas to step forward and serve Murphy.

My philosophy is simple: leadership should be about service, not tenure. That is why I support a two-term limit for council members. This provides enough time for elected officials to learn the role, accomplish meaningful goals, and contribute to the city—while also ensuring opportunities for new voices to help guide Murphy’s future.

Murphy is a community built on strong families, engaged residents, and forward thinking leadership. Term limits help preserve that spirit by keeping our local government dynamic, transparent, and accountable to the people.
